David Icke's claim that a hybrid bloodline of interdimensional reptilians rules humanity through royalty, banking, and media.
Documented
The phenomenon is real whatever the thesis is
David Icke's The Biggest Secret (1999) synthesized Sitchin's Anunnaki, Theosophy's root races, and conspiracy literature into the reptilian bloodline thesis: the same hybrid families have ruled since Babylon. He filled Wembley Arena for day-long lectures, built a media operation, and was deplatformed during the COVID era for claims about 5G and the pandemic. His 'problem-reaction-solution' analysis of manufactured consent predates and parallels Chomsky's, minus the lizards.
Assessment: As a social phenomenon, fully documented and enormous: belief surveys find single-digit percentages of Americans open to the reptilian claim, which is millions of people. As a factual claim, there is no evidence for reptilian overlords, and the bloodline genealogy reproduces, sometimes verbatim, the structure of older antisemitic conspiracy texts with 'lizards' substituted. That adjacency is documented too, and this archive names it rather than laundering it.
Interesting claims
Read as myth, it becomes interesting
The strongest reading is symbolic: reptile brain as the cold, territorial, hoarding aspect of power; bloodlines as hereditary oligarchy; shapeshifting as the way the powerful wear whatever face the era requires. Taken that way, Icke wrote a modern Gnostic gospel, the demiurge rebranded as a lizard, and his audience reads the news through it the way earlier centuries read Revelation.
Assessment: Belief systems do not need to be true to be load-bearing. The thesis explains everything, which is the tell: a key that opens every lock opens none. The documented facts, elite networks, manufactured crises, revolving doors, deserve investigation on their own evidence, and they never needed scales.
Stories
The serpent was always there
The folklore Icke inherited: the nagas of India, Quetzalcoatl the feathered serpent, the dragons of China and Wales, the talking snake in Eden, the serpent kings in Greek genealogies. Every culture stocked its founding stories with reptiles that talk, rule, and interbreed.
Assessment: Documented across world mythology, and genuinely striking in its consistency. What the consistency proves is contested: a shared inheritance, a shared predator-wired brain, or, as the thesis says, a shared overlord. The folk tier keeps the question honest.

Worth asking
Strip the lizards away and Icke's core claim is that a hidden network manufactures consent. The lizards are the part everyone remembers. Why did the metaphor need scales?
